"Relapse", 2013

After Melissa finished a full year of chemo, radiation and surgery, we were all very hopeful. At her 3 month scan, her cancer had resurfaced in her lungs. This portrait shows the bracelets accumulating on her wrist. I still find them in bags and books, in the car. Melissa had hoped to have painted a large oil painting that included some actual hospital bracelets and the metal port used for her chemo infusions.
